‘Mirror Mirror on the wall, tell me the quickest cure of them all’. And the mirror exclaimed, ‘It's the Quack Cure’!

In this age of information, ignorance is a choice, and there is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action. We know this because we have to deal with this in our profession – where the quacking of the genius Quacks is getting louder and louder. So what do we do to save our world??

Laws can be made more stringent against anyone desiring to showcase their skills without a certified degree. However, the problem is how do we really catch them or stop them because it is the general society which is ready to pledge by them, so long as they provide a cheap and quick cure. Hence, laws should be made not against quacks, but the people ready to be duped by will.

As Benjamin Franklin rightfully said, ‘Quacks are the greatest liars in the world except their patients’. Now and then we read in papers about major mishaps to people going to quacks, the rampant spread of HIV through contaminated needles, short-term solutions creating long-term hazards. However, still, people are ready to take a risk and consult them, which makes me wonder if they are allergic to people with degrees. It becomes our moral duty to spread this awareness loud and clear about the harm; the quacks can possibly do. We almost on a daily basis see cases previously treated by quacks and reporting to us with grave problems. Let us project such cases to the general public, help them understand that cheaper treatment is taking their lives. If the law cannot nab the dubious quacks, we can help in tracing them. Let's make it a right to report these incidents once they come to us.

Moreover, if you think why should we be taking the pain-sticking efforts, the answer is: To retain our dignity. We need to spread awareness that there are no shortcuts to anything, especially where health is involved. The bitter truth is that ‘Imprisoned quacks are always replaced by new ones’. Hence, the change is needed in the mindset of our society, and we shall pledge to be mediators of this change.
